Why are CBs always more expensive than regular ammo from the same manufacturer? Aren't CBs cheaper to make (no powder, just primer) than regular ammo? Store stock seems to be constant, so I don't see why it would be a supply and demand issue. Any insight?

CB's have a small amount of powder. If you have removed the bullet from one there is a few grains of powder.

Absolutely right. I did pull apart a CB cartridge and found that it had about a 1/4 of the powder (visually, I didn't weigh them) of a .22 Winchester Xpert cartridge.

If they sold like 22lr, they'd be cheaper. The volume just isn't there. I couldn't imagine myself buying a case of CBs, but I have bought 22lr by the case. The only thing I like about CB's is they are quiet, and I don't wear ear protection to shoot them (which is negated if I'm not alone at the range). They don't cycle my semi's, and aren't particularly accurate in my single six, which is the only gun I use them in.

It's called economy of scale.
