Can I use CCI's 22 CB short in a CZ 452 .22LR? A quick internet search suggest that yes, but I thought I would ask the experts here.

I apologize if this has been covered before, am somewhat search function challenged tonight.

thank you in advance.

Should shoot just fine, it's whether or not they'll feed right from the magazine. I have a couple of 452s, but have only messed with shorts in my Norinco JW15 (CZ clone). They feed fine in that, I just have no interest in using them in my CZs.

Unless you have a pile of them to use up, I don't see why you'd choose them over the myriad of 22 Long Rifle offerings. If it's something quiet you're after, CCI's "Quiet-22" (regular or segmented) would both be better choices, and pretty much guaranteed to feed right.

CZ says not to on their website because they use a tight bore in their rimfires. I shot a CCI quiet in my 452 Lux and it got stuck 1" from the muzzle.

The .22 Short's brass is about 0.200" shorter than the brass of a .22LR. There are two possible concerns unrelated to accuracy or feeding from the magazine. First, the bullet jumps further to the leade, about 1/4", which in turn means more leakage and blow by of gas than from the longer cartridge. Canted bullets are more likely to result in squibs. Second, when the bullet jumps into the leade it leaves a little lead behind. This lead and powder residue can build up at the leade and as a result that area needs to be cleaned more frequently.

Regarding accuracy and feeding from the magazine, neither should be expected to be as normal, which is to say that Shorts may not feed from the magazine and might have to be hand loaded into the chamber and accuracy may not be as good as with .22LR.

I did try it once at the club with a 452 with no ill effects but on a side note they work just fine is a 20 inch 455 barrel .i would second 22lrguy suggestion of leaving them to the clones like jw-15.
