She launches em out pretty quick. I've got a 1-9 twist so I haven't been playing with the lighter leads. I got the 69 Lapua Scenars shooting 3658 fps and plan to play with some Nosler 55 gr. BTs.

That is what I would be doing if I had one.
Have you had any bullet breakup (on the way to the target) problems?

How is good is accuracy?

The version I borrowed dies for left the shoulder neck junction in tact while blowing the case body forward to create the 30 degree shoulder.

I do believe his version is the MK II. I just knew that the shoulder angle had to be different otherwise they would be an identical cartridge.

I have one as well. Your version is the correct one from Middlestead's original design. The other would be something someone came up with to avoid having to shorten the barrel, thread shank and chamber for the original I would imagine. - dan

My 1-8" Middlested blew up about half of the 90 grain SMKs I shot through it. My first thought was "terrific, what am I going to do with 2000 of these things?":bangHead:

80 grain Bergers makes teeny little groups at 500, so I got over it. A friend uses the 90 grain Berger with the same charge of H1000 without issues.

What sort of velocity are you guys getting with the 80 and 90 Bergers?

I just picked this gun up over my Xmas break so I haven't had a lot of time to play around with it. I have a total of 64 rounds through it! With the 69 grain Scenars I put 4 into a pretty tight hole at 100 but pulled my 5th enough to see paper between the 2 holes. This gun has the potential to outshoot me, which I really like.

Is there a need to shorten the barrel when doing a rechamber from a .22-250?


Damn this thread.....If I get fed up with my 22-250 I think Ill just get some one to rechamber or rebarrel to a middlstead.

Mine was built by Craig at AC Douglas in Saskatoon. I didn't have anything to do with the way this gun was built. I bought it off a friend after he had it rebuilt and hadn't shot it in a few years. It has a 1-9" twist, and he still has one with 1-10" and one with 1-12". They were all built at AC Douglas.
