.22 conversion for a shotgun?

so Im tossing in bed last night, trying to decide which gun Im taking with me harre hunting tommorow, I dont own a .22, I got coupel of shotguns, enfield and winchester 30-06

I read so much about what's the best gun for small game, and someone suggested a .22 over 20ga
and it hit me, can a .22 insert/conversion kit be made for a double barrel shutty??

has this been done? is it doable? what would be the cost?
if anyone likes the idea and plans to use it as their own I wouldnt mind getting a free first model

Yeah, I drooled over the Savages for some time. 22lr over 410, 22mag over 20 or 28ga. Saw one on the ee a bit ago I think was 30-30 over 12ga. Ultimate truck gun or what eh?

Looks interesting. Accuracy must be lousy though unless you have sights on the shotgun? And how do you extract the shells...maybe a short rod or stick?

I was thinking along those lines, only longer insert,

the way I imagine it, there should be little cut, oposite the firing pin stike area, where one can use fingernail to extract casing

the more I think about it the more I want that combo gun

I'd be scared of the bullet bouncing off the sides of my shoygun barrel and buggering it up with that thingamabob.

Maybe with a 18 1/2" bbl it could do but with such a short little barrel on the converter I'd be hesitant with a 28" bbl.

Oh those crazy Germans.

I recieved a German catalogue from one of my German buddies, dont remember the name of it. In it they had all sorts of full length inserts to change a shotgun into a rifle. From .22 up to magnum chamberins.

The whole barrel insert would be offset so thatthe centerfire pin hits the rim
