Just wondering about the potential of damage to the barrel and other components from using a .22 conversion kit in an AR-15. Any experience?
As far as .22 ammo goes, what works? Subsonic? Hi velocity?

Thanks !

I have the atchession/ceiner kit I use it in my 1/9 16" ar15 everyweekend If i use anything but hi velocity ammo it jams or double taps

I usually shoot 200 rnds of .22 (i have the 30 rnd mags for my kit) i then fire a few mags of .223 to clear the barrel and the gas system i allways chek the barrel for leading BEFORE i use .223

the kits do foul up the barrel extension pretty good i just use LOTS of clp to clean it

its a soft lead bullet Im not worried about the .22 lead bullets

the .223 FMJ bullets i shoot are way more likley to wear the barrel

its not the most accurate with the .22 but it is fun to plink with

I find the Colt conversion in my AR H-BAR shoots about 2" at 50 yards benched so its not a precision tool. I find it useful for drills like: standing, rifle at rest; raise rifle; safety off; aim and double tap; safety on; rifle down; repeat. I've never noted any leading in the barrel. I clear the rifle barrel and gas system with a few shots of 5.56 fmj.
