.22 Conversions?

I have Norc Commander.

I would like to shoot something a little cheaper than .45.

Can I get a conversion top end for .22lr, and where?

What am I looking for in the 'will fit' department?

Anything else I need to know on these?

Kimber's look pretty good on the commander's...there is no gap between the end of the dust cover and the slide.
They pop up on the EE every once and a while and I think TSE has sold them in the past.

STI is selling a conversion that is made by Marvel and is a little more expensive....I think Freedom Ventures has them.
 
It would be cheaper to buy a good used 22 pistol,
and would work better, I have never seen one of these
that worked all that well, but some may have one.
Fellow has a kimber 45 with the 22 conversion unit.
The 45 is NICE , the 22 conversion is not .
Too light and not accurate.
 
I know Advantage Arms not only sell the Glock kit but a 1911 kit. I would think that would fit ? The one they make for Glock is excellent. At the start if you use the ammo they suggest it works flawlessly. After it's broken in it even works fine with even the cheapest ammo.

If you are happy with government model length there are many good options, including the STI version available from Freedom Ventures, but...

Whereas you have a commander-length frame (and, no doubt, commander-length holsters to go with it) you might greatly prefer a commander-length .22LR conversion.

22 conversion kit is at least 400 plus taxes. that would buy me a lot of 45 ammo. If my arithmetics is correct, this would buy me about 20 boxes of 50 round 45s, which is about 1,000 rounds of 45 ammo. Someone who shoots moderately, this would last for a bit....but at the same time I know some people go through this much ammo in one week.....
 
The conversion kit for my sig is finally working right and is allowing me to shoot about 200rd more each session without breaking the piggy bank, great for practicing draw fires and such.
 
I have 5 conversion kits for the following pistols, Sig-226, Glock-17, Beretta-92, CZ SP01 shadow and the 1911.

I'm going to list them by order of reliability and functionality with all kinds of 22LR ammo

1- Glock-17, Beretta-92/96, cz-75/CZ SP01 are almost all equally the same. Worked on all ammo I tested so far flawlessly

2- Sig-226 conv kit and 3- Ceiner-1911 conv kit . Seems to like the cci mini-mags winchester super X
 
I've got a Kimber on my Norc 1911 Government. It has worked pretty much flawlessly as long as I stick to copper washed high velocity. Bought mine at Shooters Choice ($400).
 
If you are looking at it from a $$ point of view... Yes, the kit might be just has expensive as a dedicated 22lr pistol.

This been said, I still prefer a conversion kit... Because it allows you to train with the same grip/trigger/controls as your center fire pistol.
