22 hollow points not enough!?!?!

Longshot looks my squeak shooting is going to be on hold for a little while, just bought a house and had a $2000.00 vet bill for my dog that got out and hit by a car. Busted leg with 10 screws and a plate. Appreciate the offer though, bring it out here next spring and we will go whack some sod rat together.

My old beater Lakefield will run anything I feed it with relative accuracy out to 100 or so yards. I normally run the cheapest stuff I can get, cleaned out the Calgary trail CT of their Winchester Dynapoint GT on saturday. not the fastest stuff out there, nice and quiet, and still puts the gophers down with authority. nice thing was, it was $20 for a bulk pack. cheaper than federal or whitebox Win.

I just came back from a trip to AB last week and I'm again amazed at how tough the gophers are. It is incredible how they always seem to make it back to their hole, some even after being shot multiple times with .22LR. I would say that the least effective was Dynapoint, followed by Federal 36gr. bulk. The best by far was Winchester's 333. Big deep hollowpoint and faster at the muzzle than the others resulted in more 1 shot kills and way more energy transfer. It was hitting pretty consistantly from my 10/22 out to 75 yards when the wind was down.
Of the centerfires, the 40 and 50 grn V-Max out of a 223Rem did the most damage, followed by the V-Maxes out of a 17HMR. Other hollowpoints did ok but just didn't seem to have that same explosive expansion.
