I have just loaded up some Hornet with the starting load of this powder... which is 12.0 grains. The powder almost fills the case which is a good thing but I am wondering should this be a compressed load? At the maximum of 13.0 grains it certainly would be compressed and I'm not even sure I'd get it in the case. Using Winchester new brass. Can anyone advise their experiences with L'il gun in the Hornet? Dave

Remington brass has 1/2 grain more capacity. Make sure you're following your load data EXACTLY - no subsitutions!

Still, my standard load is 13.1 gr of lil gun, and while full, the case isn't compressed with either Rem or Win fireformed brass. With new brass it's lightly compressed.

Full right to the mouth, with a drop tube, you can usually get 14 grains in there

Full cases...

Indeed! I would think that when fire formed they will hold more. I am using Federal small rifle primers and 12.0 grains under the Sierra Blitzking 40 grain bullet. I don't think I can get in trouble with that? Going to bang a few here shortly....in minus twenty degree weather. Dave

It's hard to get excessive pressures with lil gun until you get to the 50/55 grain weights. With smaller bullets, it's not possible to get enough powder into the case. Check hodgdon's data - it lists pressures.
