Kicking around the idea of doing a .22 Hornet build. Single shot action, rolling block or falling block style I would prefer. Maybe something if I have too on a hinge action. Looking for suggestions for the build.
Reason?? Because I want too. I am lefty so reason for the action style. Even though I have built a few bolt actions in other calibers that I wanted. Was going to go with a Winchester 1892 .25-20 for a base. But the shell base is too small.

I have done several Hornet builds on H&R SB2 break-action receivers.... a couple were K-Hornets, but I would recommend sticking with the standard SAAMI Hornet case. It is a simple project for a rebarrel, a little more complicated if doing a stub, but your best and most cost effective option is to be patient and find an OEM rifle... they are out there and with a few months of watching, you will find what you are after.

Ruger number 1's and 3's make nice donors as do later model Hi Walls. Be very careful if anyone try's to talk you into conversions on older black powder receivers especially the rim fire ones. Relining shot out Hornets is also a viable option. D.H.

Winchester produced them in a Low Wall. I'd go to that configuration and consider the K-Hornet for a tad more powder and less case fold-over when inserting the bullet into the case..
I disagree, having loaded both the standard Hornet and the K-Hornet... you will lose more cases with the K version, the steeper shoulder buckles more easily, not less, particularly with the Hornets paper thin case. I did not like the K version for an extra grain of powder... just not worth it.

I had a japanese made low wall in 22 hornet for a while. I was very happy with it. Maybe look around see if you could find one of those. If you have a 92 action have you considered a 218 bee?

I have a 218 bee on a no4 Enfield action. sweet round, pain in the axx finding ammo or brass to reload.
considering .22jet as the parent case is every were.
also working on No4 in .22 hornet. Martini Cadets are sweet also.
