.22 Hornet Decision Time, Please Help Me Out.

Narrowed it down to these rifles. Help me pick. :D

Well, I was trying to post this as a poll but it didn't work.

Here are my options:

CZ Prestige Model
Savage Model 40
Browning A Bolt Micro-Hunter
Ruger #1

I too would vote Ruger. It's not a serious hunting round, and your going to have fun with it. You might as well do it with a noble rifle.

The savage model 40 is a stretched MKII rimfire. And i won't spend that kind of money on a savage rimfire.

Mine was spotty with factory ammo(1-2.5"s) but with Reloads it easily put them under an inch at a 100 meters:cool:

Mine was the plain Light 20" barreled version;)

The 24" barreled, laminate stock 77/22 Hornet sure looks good too.:cool:

I actually owned the target gray laminant model in .22 Magnum. I didn't own it long enough or shoot it enough to draw a conclusion on its accuracy.
 
the savage's are accurate, mine is. some gundealers seem to say if you want accuracy savage is almost a sure thing. i'm sure the cz's are good too, i'm going to get one yet. wonder how that new remington 799 is?
 
What BCWill said followed by the CZ. The Savage 40 is not a good candidate for a K-hornet conversion as it won't take the extra kapow.
 
I have held a CZ Prestige .22 Hornet and a Ruger #1. They were both fantastic looking guns. Now, is it true that you can use some bullet types in a single shot hornet that you might not be able to use in a magazine fed rifle?

I really like the look of the wood and the jewelled bolt on the prestige but I just feel like a real "varmint hunter" holding the Ruger #1. :p

Yes.....you are not limited by the "magazine" length when seating bullets.
Often the longer/heavier bullets can be seated further out to maximize case capacity etc.
of course the "throat" depth determines this as well;)

O.K I think I am getting it. So its not the magazine that is an issue it is the rifle itself?

what is the operating pressure for a k hornet? not sure if i'd bother with the savage anyhow for modification. i think between the cz and ruger the cz is a far better choice. i am particular to the lux model myself.
