22 Hornet rifles

bout to send some rounds thru that little 465 of mine,... some handloads im not sure of what origin but B I L giftred to us............ see how we go!

I’m with guntech. The 22 hornet is terrible especially compared to how good a 221/222/223 is. As a hater, I hate.

As a fan boy I love them. With the hype of 22 mag and 17 hmr these are far more useful. They reload cheaply and have good effect on gopher badgers fox and called coyotes. Not my choice for deer but work great for small game.

Starting in the early 60's I have had a few Hornets... delicate little case...loading some magazines caused denting the brass... after I got my first .222 Remington I forgot all about the hornet. The 222 being considerably more accurate and easier to load and a bit longer range.
I'm on this side of the fence...22 Hornet is a lot of work, I'd take a 22mag if I needed quite Hornet type performance, close enough, and the 222Rem just outshines it every way possible.

I used to have a Brno 465. What a stupid mistake to sell that rifle. If I ever saw another one in that condition I’d snap it up for sure. Shot bug hole groups at 75 yards with Sierra .223s and ‘lil gun. Man I miss that gun.

Personally, I just love the great old .22 Hornet. It's easily effective at much greater range than the rimfire magnums. But, truthfully, I've seen very few .22 Hornet rifles that were particularly accurate, and it's a great deal more expensive to shoot than the two rimfires. - Craig Boddington

My abolt hornet is an absolute tac driver. I bought it before i was reloading and it would shoot that factory remington with the 35 vmaxy type bullet into tiny little holes. My Ruger number 1 k hornet doesnt seem to be quite as accurate but i havent played with the loads enough to know if i have found its full potential. A hornet is just the ticket for gopher patches with neighbours. Killed a few badgers and coyotes with it as well. But where it is at its absolute best in my mind is as a beaver hunting cartridge.

The few number 1 hornets I was around liked 40 and 45gr old style hornet bullets and a compressed load of 4227.
