I have a couple left, a Ruger #3 & a #1. My son took my Browning micro medallion ( it shot great). I’ve had Rem,Savage, and a Brno. If you were to get a new one what make would you go.? A 1/14 or 1/16 twist? Like many that gravitate to Hornets, I have many more powerful 22 cf but just really like shooting the little tapered shell. Thanks

Sorry , pics dont work on my phone....
Lyman little sharps. 6 power malcolm scope. 22k hornet.
1 and 28 twist shots 30gr varmagedon fast... great popper

Couple HR crack opens. An old model 58.nice case hardening receiver..
The second is a synthetic stock..
Great cartridge, a real blast from the past.

I settled on Anschutz quite a long time ago. Pity that they quit making rifles with the 54 action for that cartridge. I have owned a great 1530 sporter, liked but just sold a HB classic, and will always keep my 1533 full stock carbine. Wonderful little rifle.

Like yourself I have a Browning A bolt in 22 Hornet.
Also a Springfield CZ M6 survival firearm in the awesome Hornet & 410. I like the idea of small game hunting and possibly plopping a coyote on the same hunting trip here in the boreal forest. Sometimes I wonder about a discontinued BSA in mini Mauser action or your belated Anschutz. Both virtually unreachable sadly enuf.

I LOVE the .22 hornet, I've probably owned 7 or 8 now. Of all the hornets I've owned and all the ones I've shot, my hands down favourite is and always will be the Browning A-Bolt Micro. Theyre short, light, handle nice and shoot exceptionally well!

Of you had to choose from brand new and currently produced models, id buy the CZ 527. If you're looking at used ones, id try to find another browning. If you just want to shoot off a bench, try finding a savage model 40. Single shot, heavy barrel. A little goofy that they only chambered them in .22 hornet, but for gophers, its just fine.

Sorry no pics of my CZ 527 K-Hornet with a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 all sitting on a Harris BR-s bi-pod. Use this off of a portable table for gopher hunting. It just may be close to the perfect tool for that job, sure is fun to shoot anyway.

Do you find the mags a little short for oal of cartridge. That was the problem with the Brno, it shot much better with a longer oal than the mag could hold. The new CZ with a 14 twist can be worked on to give a little longer. Any one know how big an Anschutz mag is?

Mags on the CZs are too short but very easy to modify. K-Hornet definitly shoots better seated on the lands. I generally use a James Calhoon single shot adapter anyway, great product.

I have an unaltered Ruger #1B in .22 Hornet and a Ruger #3 with slimmed down fore end, deleted the barrel band and reworked finger lever.
My entry into the center fire varmint gun was a 340 Savage with a 4x scope in .22 Hornet, it was not a pretty action but was quite accurate.
I've never owned a Browning but some have these comments have kindled the desire.

It is hard to find much around. There is some Anschultz that look good. 1/14 twist I think. I have had the best luck loading a long as I could. Most mags could be a little longer. As these are mostly gopher guns (#3 is handy when calling coyotes) I think another Browning, if you could find one, would be a good choice. If you guys were going to get another, what would it be? Thanks AJ

I am not sure myself if the Browning 1885 Low Wall is still available in 22 Hornet.

Edit: And although the A Bolt Micro Hunter has only a three shot capacity thankfully there's room in the front for a longer bullet.
To most of us this factor is most important for versatility in our handloads.
