22 k hornet experience, thoughts and opinions!

My dream gun would be an older left handed anchutz, browning a bolt micro, etc but I can't seem to find one anywhere in Canada or the USA for sale. So for now, I search for a savage 219, savage 340, Winchester model 43, etc. I might even consider one of those new savage 25s and see if I can't make a k hornet out of that. I don't own a reamer, but I have a smith that charges 60$ to build a k. Tap handle, a little oil, go and no go gauges and going very, very slow. It is a very simple conversion with very, very little metal being removed!

I got a set of 22 k hornet dies at a gun show today for really cheap. So now clearly I need a gun to go with them! What have you done with the K hornet and whats your experience? I'm looking at it for a coyote/gopher/fox/beaver gun kind of deal!

It's perfect for those uses within its range limitations. Just remember it is a small gun, anything that people say the 22LR or 17HMR is too small for or is marginal for the hornet will shine on.

It is fun to shoot and reloading is easy, a bottle of powder goes a long way! I've paused reloading for mine since it shoots the S&B 46 grain soft points so well (and I bought a boatload), unfortunately S&B brass seems to be about the worst to blow out in the K chamber.

Let's see typical load for a hornet is about 12-13 grains of powder. 7000 grains in a lb = 583 shots on a single pound (assuming no spillage). A k-hornet would be a powder pig at only 518 shots/lb. Yeah I love the hornet!
