I am looking at purchasing a .22 lever gun and was would like you opinions on which are of best quality/value. I have looked at the Norinco, Marlin, Winchester, Henry, and the Browning. all seem decent and I am leaning towards the Norc. JW21 or the Marlin M39, but don't know if the marlin is worth 2x the price?

Your thoughts?

PS. WANTED .22 Lever gun

Cheers.

The Browning BL22 (I think) and the Winchester are nice little .22's great feel to them pretty close to the 30-30 Model 94

Marlin 39 is a great rifle. Most that I've seen have been very accurate. Triggers seem to run from OK to excellent. My current .22 lever is a Henry Golden Boy I picked up used from a buddy. Very, very, very smooth, must be the brass frame.

Some people are saying pick up a 9422 as they are only going to go up in value. Don't think you can go wrong with any of these three. Can't speak to the Browning as I've never shot one, some like the short lever throw, I like the standard throw as it is more like my centerfire levers.

Good luck....

Probably the least common, but the Henry golden boy is the prettiest (to my eyes), and by far the smoothest. Not easily scoped, if that's your thing, but it would certainly be my choice

BL-22 is my bet. I got one and its real sweet. I love the short lever throw!
Also a great investment. As prosper says The Henry arms golden Boy is almost to pretty to shoot but I want one !

I have the Winchester 94-22 and it is fantastic. Shoots like a dream, very well put together.
Good luck with your hunt.

Marlin golden 39. On # 2 now cause in a weak moment of temporary insanity I sold the other one. Buddy has the browning and it has a bad habit of breaking firing pins. The marlin is well worth the price. Had 2 winchesters, and although nice, they didn't give me the accuracy that I demand. They are gone.

Sounds good, I ordered a Marlin 39AS. Good to hear positive experiences with it, and thanks for the advice.

You won't regret it. IMO,its one of the guns that gets past down to your kids and grandkids.
