.22 Long Case ID

The other day at the range I found a very long spent casing which I had never seen before. It has the following dimensions:

1.053 inches long and .243 inches in diameter this is compared to a .22LR which measured at .609" long X .229 diameter.
Can anyone tell me what kind of cartridge this is?????

OK... thanks, is this strictly a rifle round or are there pistols made to handle it, I know there are revolvers that have extra cylinders for .22 magnum?

Yes, there are semi-auto pistols that are chambered in .22 WMR.
