22 lr ammo shortage

From my understanding there wasn't an option of increasing an order. They were able to order what was available. There are even areas in the states where they have purchase restriction on rimfire ammunition to help distribute what little stock they have. I'm sure that these companies (including Bass Pro) have amazing buying power, and they could be making a killing just by brining the stock in. But there is a limited stock.

We are lucky in Canada as we have been hit much less than those south of us but they also have a great deal more buying power and I'm sure the supply will follow the demand. I wouldn't expect things to get any better in the interim but I doubt it will get worse.

It seems the mid to high end ammunition is still available so I guess I'll stick to that for now.

These Presidents, CEO's & Managers are clueless.. The issue is buying power or there just plain dumb... Most companies don't want stock to sit on the shelves long it ties up money. But if regular items are selling fast & you can't keep enough to meet demands. You would think they would be smart enough to up there regular order so they can make more money & at the same time keep your customers very happy.. I have seen this first hand with both Wholesale Sports & Cabelas.

Remember someone posting in a thread that by the fall of 2013 there would be lots of ammo and a price war by manufacturers trying to gain market share...yea right..Laugh2

I looked at the Cabelas Canada Online site......seems to be alot of 22lr currently out of stock and on back order......" a gun without ammo is only a club ! "....

Maybe I should rush out and stock up before spring... I'm down to my last 4000 rounds...

Oh. Wait. Nevermind.

around here you can't find anything CCI or federal. 333 winchesters are around. Some of the superX 100 per plastic case winchesters crop up here and there. The retailers I spoke with are saying they have orders from a year ago that haven't been filled yet, they just take what they can get. So I buy a pack when they are in but i'm not 'stock piling'. Things will get better. If they don't, we have a bigger issue than no rimfire rounds.

Wow...
That sucks.
round here we are having plenty of luck,
I bought 2 bricks of federal high velocity (Prodcut #510) for $22, and thats all I'll need for a while.
Last year I went thru a brick and a half, hope to do more shooting this year,
but it's not like I honestly need a billion rounds in the closet,
I know the price will go up, it does every year, just like gas
Doesnt mean I am filling my waterbed with the stuff to store it and save 4 bucks in a year.

Only 4000????? Get out there any buy buy buy. There is a shortage going on.
That said I almost always pick up at least one 50 round box when at a store that sells ammo.

That's how I ended up with 4000 rounds... The cost of a brick of ammo, for hanging out at the local shop and BS'ing for an hour or two is a heckuva lot cheaper than paying for a shrink... And more therapeutic to boot.

Being retired has it's benefits, get out for gophers often. I take 2 bricks for an afternoon, mostly with bolt guns. Got caught short once, never again. Lotta fuzzy critters and a few thankful landowners.

Lol I will agree with that. On a good weekend if I go out with my shooting buddy we can burn through 2000 rounds pretty quickly.
