I tried a box of those Lapua ones once. Excellent ammo but can't justify the price. I guess if I was competing in .22LR then maybe.
I tried different Winchesters, the various Remingtons, CCI's and those red boxed Federal ones. I keep coming back to Thundercruds as some people call them. They are cheap and don't shoot that badly.
Every brand I tried recently had a few duds and/or flyers in the brick or box. Even the currently available Thundercruds. I still have three bricks of 15 year old Thundercruds and they are the only ones I have yet to have not one dud in a brick. I guess they put more QC in back then.
I found the most duds per brick were the Federal ones. I also found this brand sometimes aren't duds but just won't fire with an old beat up abused worn out club gun but will fire in my Ruger Mark III. Other brands will still fire in the same club gun unless it truly is a dud. Federals definately don't like worn out, weak or light firing pins.
Sorry, I can't comment on the other brands in a 10/22 because I just have the Thndercruds now. And I'm still looking for a good peep-sighted target model bolt rifle like I did my merit badges on all them years ago. Those cheap Thundercruds do shoot real nice in my AR15 with the 22 kit, though....
