I fired my High Standard derringer for the first time today.

At 10 yards I could keep them on the letter size page target with some .22 LR high velocity shells.

I then tried the CCI .22LR #12 shotshell at 10 feet.

I think it would work for mice, rats, snakes and maybe grouse.

POA was the center of the square above the black diamond.

if your gonna risk getting caught hunting with a handgun I wouldn't waste it on 22 rat shot.

I don't see anywhere where he said he intended to do that. I have used the same ammo from a rifle and it was pretty useless aside from lining your rifling with lead. I always thought one of the smoothbore Remington rifles would be a neat novelty though.

The old Elephant hunting Adage comes to mind .
Get as close as ye can laddie , and then get 10 yards closer .
It won't shoot to the moon but it may stop a mouse charge if you are lucky and the wind is right . we used these quite effectively against rats

One would think that in such a vast and underpopulated country, compared to our southerly neighbors, open carry in the wilderness would be permissible in order to defend one's self from wildlife.
Just wait until more of these hipsters get attacked by wildlife and make a stink about not being able to open carry in the wilderness. Bound to happen I say.
