.22 LR for coyotes??

You are right about the law, when the ranger came around he told me i did not have the right to do that, it was in Vankleek Hill in Ontario,so will he gut it out he told me that he is writing me a permit and i would be able to claim it half and half with the owner of the land. The owner came with is John Deere and drag it to the barn hang it up and split it in 4 pieces, two each my Nissan pick up was full ,drop the pieces to the butcher in Lachute Quebec and had it process. The ranger was ok ,he told me i was wrong but at the end me and the farmer had ourself nice meat... JP.

I have killed a couple of coyotes with a 22 LR, but I would not deliberately "hunt" for coyotes with this round, regardless of the type. One of the coyotes I shot was at about 20 yards. I spotted him coming down a trail that I was hunting grouse on, so stepped off the trail a few feet and waited. One shot in the head at that range....DRT. The other one was sneaking around our chicken coop on the farm. I nailed him broadside through the lungs at about 30 yards with an old "Whiz-Bang" Long Rifle. He ran about 40 yards and collapsed, deader than a doornail. Since there are several better suited chamberings for coyotes, I cannot recommend the 22 LR for these dogs, even where it is legal to do so. Regards, Eagleye
