The Canadian dollar just dropped 20%, so there should be no surprise that translates into an increase cost of many things, including groceries that come from places like California (which is also experiencing a major draught and pushing up the costs without currency conversion being a factor).

As for wages going down 5-10%, do you have a source for this?

Because you may want to let Statscan know, as they are reporting hourly wages are up on average 2.3% overall year over year, with only one industry showing a decrease ("Natural and applied sciences and related occupations" with a meagre drop of .2%).

I happened upon 6 boxes of 50 rem yellow jacket at the local Walmart. Bought them all because it is such a rarity nowadays. 41 bucks but it is what it is. Just seen Winchester wildcat 500 rds in wooden boxes for 60 bucks at the local Canadian tire. Had to do a double take. If wildcat is worth that much, I shudder to think where the price of the better stuff will end up.

Supply is WAAAAY up from a few years ago, so are buyers. It used to be suppy met demand, it was a fragile balance, now that demand is up, supply simply can't keep up. It used to be shooters only had a brick or two, or maybe a few boxes on hand, as they knew they could stop on the way to the gopher patch and buy some for the day, no need to stock up, not guys buy by the brick or case, If you take all the previous 22 owners who used to buy by the box, and now buy by the brick thats an instant 10 times increase in demand, or worse by the case, that a 100 times increase in demand. no wonder the 22 ammo makers can't keep up.

Solving shipping issues is great news, even if does not apply to solving 22LR ammo situation.
What has happened to resolve this problem favourably?

Radmacks, supply/demand has everything to do with the price jump. the demand is more than the supply so people are buying regardless of price. if no one would buy the ammo priced that high it would go down. we have a couple places that are/were charging over 100 bucks for the Remington 1400 rd bucket-o-bullets and selling every bucket they could get. guys were buying 2-3 at a time if they had them. all that is going to change since Cabelas just opened their new store in Moncton. from what I saw last week cabelas pricing is at least 25% less than these other stores.
 
Don't look now, but .177 pellets are starting to get hard to find. And forget about the .22 calibre pellets. They're priced sky high!!! Where will it end?:rolleyes:
 
Yesterday I watch SFRC's (newly in?) .22LR CCI AP Tactical rounds; 300 box, sell out in real time...
56 boxes; every time I reloaded the page there was another 5 to 10 bricks gone. What have I got myself into here :p
