22 LR gouging

Why worry about the lack of .22 There's nothing that can be done about it. Pick another caliber, reload and cast your own bullets, it's cheap and entertaining. Don't concern yourself of which you have no control over.

A couple of months ago CT was showing a price of 89.95 for Remington 1400 rd Bucket O' Bullets. At the same time a LGS in Moncton had a stack of them for 69.95. When i mentioned the CT price the sales guy said something to the effect the they were making money at 69.95 and at 89.95 CT was gouging. Given that this store was happy to sell at the lower price (and said they were still making money) I think I have to agree.

Lol reload....... where is this magical powder?
Sure you can reload but you first need to find powder and the price of bullets and powder has gone up just like ammo.
So we are paying one way or another.

Don't forget primers. Sometimes they're as scarce as hen's teeth. And not getting any cheaper.

Gotta love the dicks that chime in saying we should have bought more at the lower prices. I had 30k or more rounds burn when my house went up. Stocking up didn't do much good, did it? Now I try just keeping my .22s fed and I might as well be shooting surplus center fire.

LOL
So don't stock up on ammo cause you house might burn down
Laugh2

You'd have to be a special kind of dumb to get that out of what I said. I'm saying different circumstances for different people. Some people assume everyone trying to buy ammo was too dumb to buy it when it was cheaper.

Agreed. Relatively new to shooting, within the past 18 months, and trying to get a handle on sourcing quality ammo at a 'reasonable' price, but alot of what I hear from some of the 22LR crowd is the usual smug "should have seen it coming!" generalization, like we've all been in the hobby for decades.

I have to agree with you! I have been in this hobby for decades and sometimes you get caught with your pants down. Who would have thought that 7.62X54 would have dried up and not been available until 2002. I never would have sold off all my surplus Bullseye ,Unique and Red Dot if I saw that shortage coming down the pike. Most of us have a good stash of .22 tucked away because it was not expensive until now.The new shooters have no choice but to pay primo prices because that's what is out there right now.

$89 was a couple months ago. Last week I saw buckets going for $109. And that's at my LGS!
