.22 LR Pistol... what to buy?

I have looked at and shot the S&W M&P and was not opposed to it, but not enthralled by it either?

I also have big hands so I believe the Walther 22 might be out of the picture.

Get a 22lr conversion kit for your p226
 
You best be careful if you get a wheel gun. I picked up a nice S&W model 17 and I love it! I never intended to get into revolvers but since the M17 worked out so well I got it's big brother the model 19. Something very satisfying about shooting a quality revolver. I also have the beretta model 71 which has never had a ftf or fte problem with any ammo I have run through it. The pistol is more accurate than I am and is fun to shoot. Beware though it has a small grip. If you have big hands you may not like it. New shooters or young people will not find this pistol intimidating so the shooting experience will be more enjoyable. The nice thing about getting a full size 9mm or other calibre is that there are plenty of .22 kits for the most popular pistols. Some of these kits can be very picky with the ammo. I am contemplating the S&W M&P22 at the moment to complement my M&P9 since there is no conversion kit for it.
 
So no love for the Walther/Colt 1911 ?
There is 3 models, Gold Cup, Government and railed Government with different sights.
Its a bit more expensive than the GSG but I better like the design of the Walther/Colt.
Mags for the GSG are also cheaper.
I think you can't go wrong with Colt and Walther products.
Reviews are also very good, seems pretty accurate.

The Colt/Walther Gold Cup model should be my next pistol purchase !



Oh and the Ruger MK III is also a good choice.

Browning buck mark gets my vote. Very accurate and mags can be bought quite often at wholesale. Rugers are great as well. Model 41 is wicket if you have a taste for the finer things :)

I like those too, I'd like to try one out before I'd consider buying one, but they seem to have some decent reviews.
 
Browning Buckmark hard gun to beat. I got mine right after they came out, when they had the cheap rear "buckhorn" sights, baby goes bang every time. Another auto tghat I have is the Walther made Colt 1911 Rail Gun. Full size 1911 with aluminum frame available in plain Gov't, Rail, and Match. Good gun no complaints here either.

This may be a game changer for me! I'm a couple reviews in to this gun now and it seems to have everything I am looking for. I especially love the larger grip as I have much larger than average hands. Thanks! I'll keep you posted if I go this route.

I guess it depends on how you want to use it.

If your looking for a gun with supreme accuracy, the better ones (in semi auto) are the Browning Medalist, S&W Model 41, the High Standards, or a Colt Match target (if you can find and afford one). These are the most common, there are others like the Walthers, etc. plus the Free Pistols.

If your looking for a gun with very good accuracy, the best and most common are the Browning Buckmark, Ruger, Colt, Walther, Sig, etc.
 
I really like the Sig 1911-22. It's very accurate and it's a blast to shoot. Plus, if you get another 1911 of a different caliber, it makes a great cost effective training gun.
