... and yup, a revolver over 10 rounds would be prohib. I wonder if there were any in the country before they would have been banned from import....

There must be a point where the reliability of cylinder rotation and indexing is affected by the number of shots.

FYI the Uberti Cattleman 12shot revolver is listed in the FRT and is classified as Restricted only. Go figure. This is in total contradiction to the RCMPs position relative to max capacity of ANY handgun in Canada. I would love to see a distributor bring some in as I am sure there is a bunch of guys wanting one, myself included.

The Magazine Control Regulations were set up to deal with capacities of mag.s for automatic (semi and full) firearms only. The vast vast vast majority of revolvers are not automatic.
A magazine is a device to hold cartridges which feed into the chamber or breech of a firearm. The cylinder of a revolver *IS* the chamber.
‘High capacity’ revolvers are already approved as Restricted firearms in Canada. Their scarcity has to do with fears about the possible acrobatic interpretations of Law which the RCMP may attempt, as an end-run around these perfectly lawful firearms. Such as ‘all handguns are limited to 10 shots,’ which is absolutely not what the Law says.
(Most revolver cylinders start to look crowded with more than 6 notches cut in, anyway. Let alone if fluted…)

Further to the above, it apparently matters which person is addressing the inquiry within the RCMP. Legal defination of a magazine is as shown above, however in their training program, they describe magazine types as being box, tubular, integrated or in the case of revolving actions the cylinder(as it is also a cartridge storage device in addition to containing the chambers). Proof yet again that there is contradiction within their own group as to what is/is not proper. So long as they currently consider the revolver as being restricted with 12shot capacity, all the better for us but as soon as some Lieberal Donkey Whalloper see his golden opportunity to make our world even safer by imposing yet another ridiculous change, it too may be reclassified...

I am not beyond admitting error. According to the new materials, it clearly states "Magazine capacities for Semi Auto Pistols" in the manual. The dilemma I faced was with having conversation with the lab techs when this confusion originally appeared. I received 2 different answers which did nothing other than add to the confusion. In any case the OP was asking about higher capacity revolvers and the answer is unchanged. They are approved as Restricted.
