.22 LR Semi Rifle Recommendation

For anyone looking for a really inexpensive .22 look at the Mossberg 702 Plinkster. I had trouble with the mag at 1st then bought a 25 rd mag. Utterly reliable now and accurate. Not the best on the market maybe but for the price it's pretty darn good.

I'll second this post. I had one of those and traded it for a wood stove. I LOVE the woodstove in my garage .... but some times i really miss that little plastic bastard. It was cheap in feel, it was kind of ugly, but with a box of cci blazer it made more than one kid with a soupped up 10/22 at the range cry. Really accurate little shooter and never a problem with any ammo i tried.

of course, if you want to be a man about it ... get a savage!

If you want to be the xzibit of the gun world ... get a 10/22 and bolt lots of crap on there and maybe install a fish tank in the stock?? Picture below is your average 10/22 seen around the range, though generally the owner is a much younger kid who rolled up in some car with goofy rims and subwoofers

The 10/22 used to be the best bang for the buck in a rimfire semiauto. But now the 10/22 has plastic furniture cheapened to Remington 597 level and below. I'd go for a Marlin 795 or any savage before I'd waste money on a plastic ruger 10/22.

I psoted way back when and hey I did get the 597, put the scope and bypod on it and DAM its a tack driver. I mean once the schope is set its just freaking amazing what it can do. Did do the vq hammer and extractor and huge improvement for dirt cheep. For me this was a great setup for the cost.

Again as Is aid before ion this thread, none listed are bad options.

I miss Barry. That cranky old fart was an awesome font of wisdom and knowledge.

I love my Toz-99 from the tula plant in russia. frontier Firearms has them off and on. shoots really well, very easy to strip down and put together, comes with 4 mags, and is relatively cheep too. i haven't had any complaints yet.
