.22 LR Semi Rifle Recommendation

Marlin 60, they are a very reliable and accurate little rifle. I have put every type of ammo of ammo through mine and other than cheap winchester it will cycle everything flawlessly.

Some guns listed above have very little mods/add-on. The 10/22 is the Honda civic of rim-fires.
If you are looking at doing NO mods and just shooting that darn thing, CZ is the best out of the box, then savage IMO.
If you even think that you may do mods in the future, please please spend the money on a stock 10/22 and not a SR-22!
Save you're money, see what you like, buy what you like and you'll be ahead of alot of us.
The SR-22 is a very over priced 10/22. The amount you save on buying a stock 10/22 means you could swap the barrel, bolt, charging handle or even the receiver.
I guess it all depends on what your future plains are.
Hope you find something you like!

Solid advice right here. The ruger isn't the most popular semi auto rimfire ever made for no reason.

I am about to buy a Remington's 597 HB. 225 at Labaron. A Heavy barel good looking rifle that feels like a full size one. I have been looking for months and this one seams best bang for buck to me from my research.

That said none where bad options. The Marlin 795 and Savage 64 where taken off my list for 2 reasons, they did not feel like a normal sized rifle to me and the magazines sticking down was not my style on this kind of toy. But all research said excellent toys overall. This left the 10/22 and the 597. I am interested in accurate shooting form the 22, so both could be viable. but the 10/22 issue for me was cost, the 597 with a HB for 225 is cheaper then any base model 10/22 I could find. Now the 10/22 as people said for customization is hands down the best, but all I want is a bypod, scope and maybe a cheek pad. So the saved cash goes towards that and ammo.

That's the general idea, right there. The 10/22 is actually not the best gun at or near its price point. Others, like the 597, are simply a better gun straight from the box. It's afterward, when you look at modifying and customization, that the 10/22 really shines.

If you are into that sort of thing it could be. But the price is nuts at $880

I bet it shoots better than either of my 10/22's which I've got more than 880 sunk into. It would be fun to throw a scope on and out shoot most bolt guns there. Plus it's only money, don't you own like 10 cz's :)

There is no magic semi auto 22LR rifle. All manufacturers are good, and all have produced lemons as well. Its quite literally luck of the draw what you end up with. My buddy and I had completely opposite experiences with 597 and 10/22. His 597 was crap, we worked on it a little and it is just fine now, his 10/22 was flawless in function. My 10/22 was horrible, so bad that I returned it to my LGS. My 597VTR has been functionally and accuracy wise flawless out of the box.
