.22 lr vs. groundhog~capable or compromise?

Every Spring I hunt 'Rockchucks/Marmots' using Aguila Hyper-Velocity HP's combined with accurate headshots, by way of a good scope
and lots O' practice, I almost always make 'one-shot kills.' BTW this also applies to Skunks and Coyotes [if they're not too spooky].

From what I've read you might want to look at something in the 17cal centerfire range (or bigger) for these critters. Saubier has a really good smaller caliber forum with plenty of guys who post hunting results with their smaller caliber rifles.

Any trapper in the Yukon has shot many beaver with the 22lr. Brain shots only, & instant kills. They are a lot bigger than a groundhog.
