Is there such an animal? Just for better hole punching in paper. Easier to score and measure I would assume. Just never seen any anywhere.

In general wadcutter's and semi auto's don't mix well. The exception is the Smith 52 and some even more expensive Olympic style target guns.

Not a bad idea in principle but considering that no factory has ever made them in 100+ years probably says alot.

Love to have a 52 though.. great guns

Trunkated cones are as close as you get to wad cutters in 22LR
And they don't like feeding well through most semis and only if judiciously fed through most others.
The truncation has a bad habbit of getting caught on the edge of the chamber and peeling a tiny bit of lead from the soft 22 bullet. This tiny shaving will either cause a jamb or erratic balistics.

I've got several SGB tools and the DRock tool for reforming/bumping up bullet diameter. I have found the terminal results to be very satisfying however the improvement in accuracy has been erratic to say the least. Not that this is unexpected with .22LR but you have to really play around to find something that a particular firearm likes then make up a bunch of it.

The SGB tools have been quite good and even feed in some semi's - it's amazing what a difference there is in a bit of a flat point when you hit something (especially critters). I haven't noticed a huge difference in shooting paper but then again that wasn't why I obtained these items...

I heard Matt speak of this on CRR. Try shooting a pm to mmatt on here

I used the Watlz re-sizing die to make some wadcutters. They don't feed worth a darn in semi-autos and that's all I have. I caefully fed them one at a time and they certainly do make very nice clean holes. I didn't noting any accuracy difference though. You might see some difference in a precision rig though.

Remington Yellowjacket type .22lr is a truncated cone design. on paper, the imprint they leave is identical to that of a purpose designed wadcutter bullet. nice sharp clean holes. and very accurate out of my 10/22 as well. that's the main reason I like Yellowjacket ammo.
