22 lr winchester ammo

Have any of you people having problems with ammo ever considered that it might be your gun not the ammo which causes you so guys much problems ?

I only say this because I bought a Ruger 10/22 and a Kidd bolt ( Which comes with the kidd firing pin and ejector ) put it in my Ruger day one before even firing a single round and since .22 ammo is whatever you can find in the store I have been firing anything I can find from the Remington bucket of bullets to the Winchester M22 and the value packs to federal champion and so on and I can honestly say my Ruger has fired whatever I have fed it. I have never even see any CCI ammo let alone fired any and almost all the ammo I have found has people rating it garbage yet every single round in the chamber has fired 100% of the time I have never had a .22 not fire when I pulled the trigger. I have had a couple not fully ejected after firing and got stuck but that's a handful out of thousands of rounds. My biggest issue by far has been butler creek magazines not feeding right so i've had to deal with that problem occasionally but it's really just minor and to be expected I think.

So when I see posts like this it makes me wonder because I know I upgraded to the Kidd bolt in my Ruger but still I have no idea what to think after seeing posts like this because I have never experienced any these issues. Maybe it's the Kidd bolt I don't know but I will take any garbage rounds anyone has and feed it into my Ruger any day of the week

I had no failures to fire with the Winchester bulk pack, just the problems with fouling, which is going to happen eventually with a .22 semi automatic. It just seemed to foul up very quickly, probably contributing to the increasing rate of stovepipes & possibly fouling up the firing pin. The accuracy is about on par with what .22lr guy said. Someone was sorting by weight & getting results. Interesting.

I can appreciate your post, but there is definitely differences with ammo in specific guns, every gun can act a little different with a specific brand of ammo, if you shoot a ton of 22lr this will come to light over time, accuracy and reliability dramatically differs from gun to gun with different ammo, I would guess that I shoot about 1000 rds minimum a month and have definitely come to realize what ammo works best with my guns, my original post was just simply discovering that the bulk win stuff I bought seemed to have several different problems in several different firearms, and wanted to see if others ran into this with semi auto rifles and handguns and this ammo.

you had suggested that you had some not fully ejecting after firing and got stuck but that was just a handful out of thousands of rds, a handful of 22lr could be 100-200rds so you are actually experiencing some difficulties that are out of the realm of acceptable to me, I can run for example a bucket of golden bullets {1400 rds} in my gsg1911 or marlin 795 and have about 1-2 failures at most. or 1000 cci mini mags or blazers in almost any firearm I own and have 0 issues, 100% perfect, perhaps I am expecting a lot but 5-10 failures of any kind out of 100 is unacceptable and frustrating to me

I've bought one box to put through my old cooey mod 60 and it's the last box I'll buy. It's the only ammo I've ever put through it that had any problems. Failures to eject, failures to feed, some duds and even had a couple blow out the rim.

Have used it, buddy still uses it. Worked ok in CZ, VQ 10/22, and Rem 597. The 597 had a VQ extractor. Sent a case less a brick of Wildcats through the auction. While most cheep shells are close to 1” to 11/2 at fifty, these were 21/2 to 3”. QC on cheep shells is near nonexistent and Win is in that group. When you find a good ammo buy lots.

wondering about some feedback, the Winchester 555, 333, 222, value packs, I don't expect fantastic results with this ammo as far as grouping goes, the way 22lr is right now this is one of the brands I run across regularly that is actually stocked so I bought some.

this ammo is complete garbage in semi's as far as I am concerned, it wont cycle, it fails to eject, it stove pipes, it is completely erratic and there are an unusual amount of duds and when it does fire and cycles {which is rare} groups are horrible, today rounds out about 9 different guns I have tried to run it in rifles and handguns and the same problems occur with all.

in my opinion if its the only 22lr you can find leave this junk on the shelf, but maybe feedback from others suggest otherwise.

anyone else have these problems with this ammo?

for the record, yes, all my firearms are cleaned regularly and taken care of, Remington, cci, federal are some of the brands that run like a top in my semi's, I can literally take a mag of Remington golden bullets run through them like a champ, load a mag of Winchesters and problem after problem.

just trying to save people some money as they are charging 15-20 bucks for 222rds, 18-25 for the 333 and as much as 35 bucks for the 555 now.
My experience exactly, garbage, "DO NOT BUY" :poop::poop:

Oddly enough all my guns like it except for the VZ61 which its just ok with, it much prefers to eat Winchester Black box M22.

White box runs well enough for me, 10/22, Shadow2 Cadet, Ruger Mk1, and in lever actions.

Its middle of the road in terms of cleanliness.

And I just fired a few more from the same box and had one blow the rear of the case completely off, bullet lodged about 2 inches down the barrel. All the pressure came out of the action

If my gun can run dozens of other options without issues but can't run Winchester then it's the ammo.

Now, I'm not saying it's NOT the gun. Could be both. But the ammo is definitely part of it.

My .22 swaging die set is coming - but only after the end of the postal strike. We'll see what happens then for accuracy but I've had mixed results with winchester from this continent. When in NZ the Aussie Winchester stuff worked a treat.

Pure junk. It breaks at the neck even in my Henry. I don’t know how they get away with such poor quality.

Tried a few types of Winchester. Most recently ran threw 200 rounds of super surpassed, 50 or so in my daughters savage rascal. It shot accurately and looked good BUT had at least one fail to fire each trip out.

The other 150 rounds were sent through the CZ 457 and Savage B22. Both had similare results to the. Rascal.

Dont see a reason to keep trying as CCI proves to shoot more accurately in these rifles is more reliable and as inexpensive or more so.

I like Winchester as a company as my SXP shotgun has been phenomenal. But have not had great luck with their ammo Center fire or rim fire.
