Hi there, looking for good ammunition suggestions. Was shooting today at 100 yds.

The Maxi-mags would group only 1.75" at best.
Remington 40 gr PSPs did about the same.
Winchester Jacketed hollow points (black Box) wouldn't cycle at all.

Looking for some other suggestions that guys are using for their 22 mags. Mine is a CZ American with an installed trigger kit and I love the rifle.

I mostly want a good hunting round that will also do fairly well for plinking small targets. I really don't think FMJ or soft points would be good for hunting, but maybe guys use them for head shots? Any suggestions on other brands to try would be appreciated. Or the favorites other 22 mag shooters like. Thanks. Art

CCI's 33grn +v load is pretty nasty on varmints. Shot up and old galvanized steel sign with some as well. Cut perfectly clean holes at 50m. They look exactly like a giant Stinger. Fairly pricy at 16-19 a box. I see you are buying Winnie supremes though I guess price isn't a factor.

Accuracy

Seems to me that of all the rimfire rounds 22 mag is the least accurate. Now I've never shot one in a CZ, but all the other I have shot were minute of gopher at best. My Rem model 5 is the only exception, where, I actually had bullet holes touching at 100 meters, and that was only after I had tried a box of 50 of every 22 mag ammo available, which included 3 Win brands, 2 Rem brands, PMC, and Federal. The ones that shot best in my rifle are the CCI Maxi Mag.
If your rifle is brand new, you may need to shoot a couple hundred down the bore to break thing in a bit. how is the trigger on this rifle? Grouping with a heavy trigger isn't always easy. FS

I like the Rem 33gr accutip-v,they group very good at 100yds and they kill groundhogs dead!!!!. I had some federals that grouped good as well they were 40gr hp's

I shoot a Marlin 25MN and a few different .22LR rifles.
I hunt hard and shoot like a redneck...;)
Since the last days of the old Imperial ammo, Winchester hollowpoints have never let me down. They're also the best bang for your buck.

CCI Minimags for me and I shoot at least 5 different 22s. My CZ452 loves them both as well as the 9422 and my fave Winnie 1906 pump. My wifes BRNO CZ468 loves them both too but I have not seen the Maximags yet, and none of the dealers seem to have them. Are they new? I shoot Velociters too and have bricks of both after shooting most of what is available in the stores.

I've been using federal premium 22 mag in my Marlin 925M. They are a bit more expensive than maximags or the winchester black box but they are more accurate in my gun.

Also they have a big, nasty hollow point compared to the above and really seem to pound gophers.

I don't know if they still make this ammo as I don't see it on their website, but it is very accurate, shoots flat and hits hard. I don't have to tell you guys what a Sierra true Jacketed Hollow point will do to varmints either ;)

**edit** I just noticed the P765 on my box is the same as wobbles99 from a couple posts back, meaning these are the same part number from Federal... they must have replaced the Sierra bullets with Speer tnts at some point. I still have a few boxes of this older stuff. I will have to try the new bullets and see how they compare!
