.22 mag lever action question

Because of the dimensional differences, a 22LR round in a magnum may, or may not, fire...depending on things like firing pin contact, and foreward shift of the cartridge in the oversize chamber...

If it DOES fire, the case will swell badly and likely rupture and come apart in the process. Because of the difference in length, the bullet has to fly unsupported, foreward to the riflings and can get twisted sideways before it gets to the bore, causing wild things to happen, up to and maybe including destruction of the gun.

You most definitely don't want to try it.
