I have finally started to test my 22 mag CZ452 and the best performing ammunition appears to be the Remington V-Max with a 33 grain HP. This is a mini plastic tip bullet from Hornady loaded by Remington. It feeds very well in my rifle which is something the CCI and Federal offerings won't do. It also appears to be very accurate and consistent from the limited testing I was able to do yesterday due to the high winds when I was shooting. Anybody have any experience using this ammunition on gophers and maybe fox or coyotes? Thanks for any info. Steve

I used a few boxes on gophers last year out of my 9422M

Tied for most accurate ammo with Win Supreme's

Not as explosive as the supremes or CCI TNT's, but still good

Hard to find last year - will try to get some early this year

It worked like crap in my older Mossberg. And still suffered from Rem rimfire syndrome (really dirty). I was bummed because I really wanted those premium bullets to work.

Groups were 3-4 times the size of the best ammo through the same rifle. Shows that ammo testing is really important.

Rapt. After I posted this, I went over to RimfireCentral.com and looked at the 22 mag ammunition section. Lots of info on this ammunition. Apparently, there has been 3 lots of this stuff produced. Lot one was made by Remington and has a green tip. This stuff shot very well. Lot two and three was made by CCI under contract to Remington and all three lots are packaged differently. The current stuff has a tan tip and is packaged in a plastic box. This is apparently as good a lot one for accuracy. Lot two however, which is packaged in a paper box and some of it has a green tip while others has a tan is suspect. This lot has given a lot of troubles and poor accuracy. My suggestion is to buy another box of the tan tip in the plastic box and try your tests again. Steve

I had some of the original Remington stuff... Green tip, plastic box... I tried it when it first came out....

I think its just a case of the load and bullet not matching my barrel well. The Federal 50 gr that my rifle likes will consistently shoot groups under 1" at 100 yards. When zero'd with this load the Rem premier 33gr stuff gavge 3-4" groups at 100 yards and the groups were centered about 6" high and right.

All I could assume is that its a barrel harmonics thing.
