Just wondering, should 22 wmr cases have this slight bulge on the base after firing? Fired from a lever action7a2ecacc-6ca3-4180-9903-d1128f123f81.jpg

Yep, fired in a Henry H001M

A fellow just brought me one which does the same, but much more-so. Blew the head right off on couple cases. The ones I tried bulged noticeably.

Looks worse in real life than pics...

How does the bore look in the one you have? Can't really see any rifling in mine by looking through the barrel with a light. When I took pics with the macro setting on my phone and a light shining in the action, I can see but it's not pretty.20240410_171315.jpg

This one is a .17 so my bore scope don't fit, but to the eyeball it looks OK.
When I have time, going to measure the depth of the bolt face.....think it's too deep, causing excess headspace. (I'm betting yours is a similar issue.)
Or could be it's not locking up tight enough, which I think can be adjusted with the shape of the arm part of the lever.

Working on it now with Henry, didn't know if the case bulge was something worth mentioning. Gun is on the way to repair shop to have barrel checked, just sent email asking them to also check out the cases. Not sure yet what they are going to do

Any update?
And who are you communicating with?
I sent message to Firearms Outlet, as they are listed as Canadian importer, but they cannot offer any help.......

Did you try any other ammo; CCI maybe? When I had a 17HMR Federal brass was the worst with split necks bulged bottoms and hot soot in the face. Surprising to me; Remington was the most accurate and had good cases.

It has a headspace issue
Henry junk
It’s sad what firearm manufacturers charge for there product and many are just inherently very poor quality
Being 68 years old and shooting a browning bl 22 since 1974 grade 2 that I paid 119$ for it likely has a 100,000 rounds thru it never a issue
And a 94/22 from the mid 80”s no issues
Globalization the reason for poor quality make it a cheap as possible sell it for as much as the consumer will pay and it really doesn’t matter if it works
