Helo All,

Does anyone know where to get a .22 Mag Pistol or revolver ?

I know AMT made an aoutloader.....

Did these ever make it to Canada ?

Anybody have one they want to trade for a Ruger 10/22 ?

22 mag

There is one for sale on the exchange forum now. "Northern Boater" has a Smith and Wesson 22 mag. revolver for sale..... M48-3 Looks very nice.
cheers! and good luck

Thanks for the heads up Jeffery,

anyone know the cost of .22 mag ammo vs. .22 LR ?

I hear it is more expensive ... just how much I am wondering.

I'm looking for a cheap pistol alternative for my 9mm ( I go through 500 - 700 rnds a trip to the range )

I saw the model 48 Northern Boater is selling and was tempted myself. I had the same questions i.e. how much does a box of 22 mag cost vs 22 LR. I went downstairs and checked out the price tags on some of my ammo.

50 CCI 22 mag - $11.95
500 value pack 22 LR - $13.95
50 Eagle 9mil - $10.95

So the 22 mag is almost 10X more expensive and cheaper than a 9mil (which you get the brass at the end of deal to reload). I have a single six that I cherish and it shoots both 22 mag and the 22 LR. I never use the 22 mag cylinder for reasons of cost plus I hardly notice the difference as both makes the same bang and puts the same hole in the paper. The other thing I notice with 22 mag is that it fouls up the cylinder extremely fast i.e. after 50 rounds the brass tends to stick in the cylinder.

As for the 48 that is an awesome handgun that dates to the late sixties. I have a 27-1 that I find to be my best wheel gun and is made in the same era as the 48. I'd buy that as a nice companion to the 27-1 and as a collector piece but given the above I would not buy it for the reasons I've described.

The only benefit I can see the 22 mag is it packs a better punch for varmit. But you can't legally blast the critters in Canada with a hand gun ...

High Standard has resurrected the Automag II (Galina/AMT) in the 6" version. Way too pricey and the parts for the High Standard are not 100% compatable with the older versions.
