Hey all. I regret selling my 22 mag and need a replacement. Open to any make and model that isn't ultra rare or super expensive. Not sure if I want a bolt gun in a chassis or a classic wood stocked bolt action or a lever or even a semi yet. I'd like to hear what you all are shooting and what you like and don't like that's available on today's market

Use will be strictly small game so optics are most likely to be used.

Several years ago I was chatting with a buddy about 22 Mag & he said 22 LR is a 'drip of lead' BUT with the 22 Mag you can get a proper jacketed projectile AND it's a 100+ meter rimfire...

And so it was that the seed was planted such that when a sale popped up, I grabbed a tube fed Marlin XT in 22 Mag...

Been happy ever since!

Cheers
Jay

This was the sale...

I've had a couple Ruger's, a Savage, and 3 CZ's. Still have a CZ 457. I sold all my HMR's and went Mag; not as accurate, but more practical for me. Can put down a cow if I had to, right to gophers.

The "22 WMR" urges pop-up a few times a year, and while I only see about 1 for sale PER year, the Zastava bolt guns seem to have a good reputation for accuracy, and they're supposed to be well-built. The older Mossberg Chuckster is supposed to punch above it's price range too, but I can't say as though such large rimfire rifles really appeal to me.

As an option, I've seen/read good things about the Savage Precision FV (might have the model wrong?), the newer B-series action in a chasis. More of the 22s floating around, but the 22WMR is supposed to be accurate.

I've had a few zastava 22lr which all shot great. It was the 640k chuckster 22 mag I sold

Had a Ruger 77/17 several years ago. I actually quite liked it, and regret getting rid of it now. But I wouldn't turn up my nose at a Ruger 77 in 22 mag if they are/were available.

RPR always seemed like an odd platform given the general quality of 22wmr ammo and the lack of match grade stuff.

If they didn't have neutered mags one of those Keltec CMRs would be real tempting.

I am fond of the Savage Mk IIs I have, but haven't tried a B series so would likely get a Savage B22 Magnum because left handed options are limited for 22wmr. Looks like Savage makes an A22 Magnum Pro Varmint, that looks like it would be right at home small game hunting if you don't mind the weight.

Browning made a pump too. I had 2 Marlin BA's in .22mag and neither had the accuracy to warrant keeping them.
