22 magnum

Don’t the 10/22 mags have a habit of blowing the ass end out of the reciever?

Never heard that, I believe you are thinking of the 17HMR, I know they had problems with those, not the 22 magnum. It was the Remington 597 that blows the mags out. Here is the article

Bought a used ruger american to try out the cal with. I read on other rimrire forums that the American in 22 mag was typically very accurate, competing with cz, while there 22lr do not. Added a yodave trigger spring. The gun shoots awesome. 5 shou
t groups at 50 average .500 to .625 with 3 of 4 different types of ammo tried. The mag is awesome. Just wish they could have figured out how to make it hold 10 like the 22lr version.

The only negatives I can come up with is not the synthetic stock isnt the most solid thing out there, and making any stock without a rubber butt pad so the gun can grip the floor when sat in a corner should be a criminal offense.

You can get 15 round mags for the Rugers.

I know most here like their rifles in 22mag, but I never felt the need for one
But in a Heritage Roughrider 6.5" the round makes for some snappy shooting, power over the 22lr is very noticable, a good trapper carry

I got the Rossi RB22M as well last year . Got a bushnell 3-9x40 DZ22 scope to go with it. accurate , nice trigger , weighs little over 4lbs , easy to carry all day.

Interesting we have the same setup. I'm glad you like yours too.

I borescoped mine, it looks almost like micro-groove rifling. It has at least 10 grooves. Not the highest quality finish and doesn't look hammer forged, but better than I expected.
