No, it is not their fault, they follow orders like anyone else. I'm sure we have all had to follow a company policy we may not have liked before. The only thing I am concerned with is why they classified it without looking at the finished product first. It doesn't make sense.

I wonder if these guns will cycle a sub sonic long rifle like the Aguila 60 grain . My Ruger 10/22 won't but the 10/22 with the Volquartsen bolt and trigger will .

In case there was any doubt... many "members" (i.e. RCMP) and their supporting staff don't know sh!t about firearms and the laws pertaining to them.

It's really only the GunNutz of Canada that are on the ball with anything gun related in this country; I know because I recently had to explain to an RCMP verifier that a new rifle sold from the factory with a barrel shorter than 18.5" is restricted... NOT Prohibited - very worrisome.

They called it prohib without even disassembling it or seeing a finished version. To me, thats stupid, and a misuse of their authority and duty.

Thier duty is to uphold the law, regs and orders in council show them an MP5 look alike with no guts for inspection and what do you expect them to do? Unless proven other wise with a proper sample and not some mock up it is a PROHIB plain and simple, nothing here to ##### about.

They have the authority to deem a firearm not a prohib when a firearm meets the requirements and is presented to them for inspection.

Stupid is not presenting them with a proper sample, first impressions are hard to shake and overturning someone elses proffessional opinion is way tougher then making your own call.

Sorry but the GRC techs are blameless on this one.

Reserve judgement untill the evidence shows up.

Of course, thats how all the already restricted and prohib firearms were classified. Pictures and a name. We have come so far.

But, hey. They are professionals.

LOL, well I would'nt go that far!!!

I just like to see folks focusing on the myriad of legitimate beefs with lunacy, this one is a just a very unique case of them being blameless.

Is my new gun here yet?

yet?

How about now?

Ok I'll check tommorow.

What do I expect them to do? Simple...make an informed decision based on a technical analysis of the given firearm and to make the appropriate classification based on those findings based on FACTS.

What I don't expect them to do? To make assumptions and inject their professional (personal perhaps?) biases into a legal process based purely on speculation. If they didn't have a GSG-5 made available for technical analysis then they should have left the classification as open or under review!

I'm personally glad the RCMP (or any police service for that matter) is separate from the courts and for good reason! If they can blindly take the law into their own hands with items such as firearms then what's next?

Its the nature of the job, you give them a bit of power and they want more. They won't be satisfied until they are judge, jury and executioner. :D

Just don't forget to post your appology as a new thread when the firearm is reclassified based on the sample provided.

By the way if your tinfoil hat theories were truly correct, I think it's safe to say the CZ-858, VZ-58L, the PE-90, Tavor etc.... would all be classified as prohibited. Considering how many on this site own these firearms in their non-restricted classification I think it's safe to say your conspiracy theory doesn't hold up.

WTF are you talking about? lol. I think you better go back and re-read my post. Apologize? For what? Saying the RCMP are asshats for classifying the GSG-5 as prohibited without examining one first isn't exactly disention amongst the ranks here.
