I was/am thinking of getting a muzzle brake/flash hider for my Ruger 10/22. I am wondering how it will affect the report. Will it make it noticeably louder? What are your thoughts/opinions. I know the set screw needs replacing and might need loctite to keep it on. Thanks.

I have one on a 10/22 I own.
Didn't notice any difference in loudness, suppression or accuracy.
I think it's mostly for aesthetic purposes.

I have an actual A2 flash hider threaded onto my 10/22 barrel...I don't notice any difference in report either.

I've got a Factory muzzle brake on a Ruger Mark 1 and I think it actually lessens the report. But it exhausts everything out the top; I've heard stories of muzzle brakes on the sides making things worse noise-wise. Good luck

Oh yea after a day of firing with tech sights on the first time my front post fell off the gun
I forgot to use loctite lol

Glad to hear it wasn't just me..........;).....

Edit: I used one of those long, precision/hex "scredrivers" to secure the front-sight, in the end....:yingyang:

I was sitting next to a couple guys at the range one day who were shooting identical Savage MKII FV-SR only difference being one had a muzzle brake. Both guys were shooting from the same box of ammo and the one with the brake was much louder to me sitting about 10 feet away.

Hi,

Where did you get the flash hider for your Ruger 10-22, i would like to get a flash hider like your 10-22 has, as mine has Tech Sights also, thanks for your help

HOLY post resurrection stirlingsmg!! :p

The flash hider I used on that build was a Tactical Innovations "slip on".
I hope that helps ya out
