.22 or 9mm?

I went .22lr for my first pistol and it was a blast, but I desired a 9mm very quickly. I wanted to learn how to control what I thought at that time was recoil ;)

First let my say thanks guys for all your advise. I had the chance to shoot a 9mm Baretta today and it felt good. :) So I think I get two a .22 for low budget days and something else. Again thanks guys :)

That sounds like the way to go, if you can afford it!!!

May I suggest you buy a Browning Buckmark Camper (ridiculously accurate and eats any .22LR you feed it, even the cheapest bulk stuff) and whatever you prefer for 9mm? You may want to take a look at either a Ruger SR9 (can be found for under $500 on sale) or a Glock? Of course, if you like 1911 pattern handguns, Norinco makes a 1911 in 9mm that can be found for about $360.

I'm still kicking myself for trading away my Buckmark (dammit all!!!! at me) for a Chiappa .22LR 1911-pattern pistol. Should've just kept the Buckmark!!!!

I was on the fence about this myself.

I struck a glock in .22 on a local forum with a 9mm conversion kit included wich sounds like a great option.
The bummer about a wheel gun is that you cant really run a conversion kit.

If i could get my paperwork in the mail already i'd be making an offer on the .22/9mm kit myself.

The only real reason to buy a conversion kit is if you plan on limiting yourself to the one platform for cheap .22 days and for the center fire days. In that case it's a great way to go.

But most of us shoot more than one frame. We might have a 9mm of some form, a 1911 and a revolver. Once you mix up the collection so there's a variety then the reasoning for the conversion kits flies out the window. And when you consider that for the same cost as many or most conversion kits that you can buy a WHOLE .22 hand gun I simply can't see the point.

thanks for your advise shredder. I will look at the great choices you mentioned. I already looked at a norinco p22 and a GSG 1911 .22. Both appealing to me and in my budged range. The problem I have is that I want them all :) but no decision made as of yet. Shredder may I asked if you have any problems with your Chiappa .22LR 1911 pattern pistol?
