.22 Pistol advice

I'm going to be buying a .22 pistol to have some fun with and to let the wife learn about shooting,.. I was wondering which would be a better choice, not only for her but something both of us could enjoy?

I have narrow it down to the Ruger 22/45 MARK III or the Smith & Wesson 22A, both are almost the same price, but I have heard of downfalls of each.

The Ruger is very accurate, but hard to take down, the S&W is easier to clean but can at time not be as accurate, and sometimes hard to eject the mag.

Opinions?

The Ruger is no problem to take down after you do it a few times.

Be aware that you cannot change grips on the 22/45. That is why I went with the regular MkIII Target model.

I am really surprised to hear something about S&W 22A being inaccurate pistol. Most of the time 22 pistols will outshoot their owners especially if its their first handgun.

Browning Buckmark target models are great too. My fav is Walther P22 but I wouldn't recommend it since I am the only guy who likes them. Right now I own Pardini and that is one great pistol if you can afford it. On a cheaper side could be Unique - very best club-level gun ever made imho.
 
Having owned all mentioned so far, have you considered a browning buckmark? They are much nicer than the rugers, i have had a Mk2, Mk3, 22/45, the buckmark was nicer. I have also 2 sig mosquitoes. they are even nicer, but require the use of more expensive ammo in it. CCI mini mags or similar. My choice is the buckmark, i wish i didnt sell it. There is one in the EE for 375$ a stainless one with fibre optic sights.;)
 
I've owned both a 22A-1 and a MkIII comp stainless.

Both pistols were equal in accuraccy give or take. The 22a liked gold medal match ammo and the mkIII likes cgi green tag. Both are more accurate than my skill shows. The sites on the ruger are a little better.

The triggers are very similar in weight, the edge goes to the ruger which is a little crisper.

The 22a is easier to take down. The ruger needs more attention when assembling but follow the instructions and it's a snap.

I owned the 22a before the MkIII. I shot this gun in my clubs bullseye comps and did very well with it. The reason I sold it for the ruger was that I liked the stainless look better and I liked the heavier weight and longer sight radius of the mkIII. I'd recomend either gun for a good first shooter.
 
I own a stainless 22/45 Hunter and couldn't be happier with it. The thing will eat any kind of ammo you give it and is very accurate. Taking it apart was tough at first, but after I did it a few times it got much easier.
 
Personally i think the Rugers are ass ugly. so i bought a Sig mosquito, despite what everyone says about it, Ive had a lot of fun with it and its simple to take down and clean.
