.22 question

I would like some info on what people would suggest if someone was looking for:

Bolt Action .22 LR, magazine fed, at least semi accurate, cheap

I'm currently looking for a new plinking gun for those boring days when I can sit on the back porch and need suggestions!

Savage MKII, Mine is a blued heavy barrel with a "plastic" stock..... it cost me $225.... Currently they are still under $300 ($289 ish)

Some of the Marlin bolt guns are pretty reasonably priced. I have one in .22mag and its a very accurate rifle.

Marlin 925, very nice rifle, I adjusted the trigger on mine a little, but other than that, it's a great gun so far.

Buy an older cooey 60 or 600. tube mag fed..maybe a mossberg 352 clip fed...Usually you can find cheaper guns for the $125-$150 .

Listen to him...he does know what he's talking about.

It's very hard to go wrong with a tube-mag bolt-action .22....

If you can find a Remington 512 on the cheap, seize upon it....

Look for a Winchester Model 69a, they sometimes show up in the EE. 5 shot mag, bolt action, some are grooved for a scope, very accurate.

What work has to be done to the Savage Mark II to get a scope on it?

Depends what you consider been 'cheap'...

it's only $50 a year... for a few years and you won't have the urge to replace it with something better... so it will work out to be quite cheap.

really I'm only looking for something about $200 (give or take) right now since there are other monetary matters as well.

I'd prefer to buy one used at least ready to mount a scope (so I don't have to take it in to get tapped).

Savages come with a grooved receiver (regular barrel) or with weaver mounts (bull barrel) so all you need is rings.

Ok I decided on a Savage Mark II! Just waiting for the forms to purchase it and hopefully it will be here next week!

Just go buy the Bushnell scope for .22, it's around $50.00
