Had this in the rimfire section, perhaps wrong place ?

Looking for a semi with a rail in front of the trigger guard and a threaded barrel that will shoot most ammo without issue

I heard the Mosquito is very fussy so I am looking at the GSG 922 and Walther P22 so far - just wondering if anyone knows how fussy they are over ammo ?
Any chance either would cycle .22 subsonic (hard to find now) or .22 quiet ?

Maybe I should give up and go with a revolver ?

have a tree rat problem on the farm and don't want to disturb too many neighbours

Your not allowed to shoot restricted gun outside a shooting range.

Handguns are for 22lr.....Best is a good 22 rifle with BBammo (short ammo).

good point jongun was assuming farm was like rural, could be not the case, shouldnt assume anything especially with the nature of that question??????

When I first got my Beretta model 71 I tried the quiets, they didn't have enough energy to cycle the action and eject the casing. After 500 rounds of other ammo I tried again and they worked fine. Although the quiets empty casings only get flung for 3 or 4 inches before they fall to the ground.

Forgot he was on a farm,so yeah probably wouldn't have a problem shooting them with a rifle. If you've a serious problem with varmints nothing will beat trapping though. I'd shoot them over trapping if there's only a few just as humane and more fun too.

It's hard to believe a farmer would have to come here to get information on how to deal with squirrels.

Just because you live on a farm dosnt mean your a farmer. As for the OP, get real close to them if you can and use some rat shot .22 rounds. They wont cycle in a semi .22 most likely. However I find them quieter, more discreet and less damaging then a normal .22 round.

Yep, you hit he nail on the head. Didn't say I was a farmer. I'll try the .22 shot and see how they work.
Asking a question isn't illegal. And there is no proof I have done this or will ever do it, just asking IF it would work. :)
I have a nice JC Higgins semi with a scope that cycle's everything; no sweat hitting them at 100yds.
