OK, so lets assume that the rifle has good feed lips on the mag box and the elevator on the tube mags is correct then does the ammunition play a role on the reliability, meaning are certain bullet shapes more reliable than others for eg. round nose, HP, stingers, solid, truncated etc. ?

I think we should eliminate the single shots from the discussion since the reliability issue is not based on the feeding system as the poll refers to.

Current results:
Magazine box - 25 - 54.35%
Tubular magazine - 24 - 52.17%

Now I'm no genius but I smell something fishy...

Hahaha.......!

911 it is starting to look that the determening factor to a rifles reliability might actually come down to the ammo used in any particular rifle. It is often talked about how one ammo works better than another in each rifle, for shure the accuracy changes with the choice of ammo so why wouldn't the rifles ability to handle one ammo brand better than another based on factors like point shape, lubricant etc.

What say you guys?

True but I did mean the percentages.

HINT: They are both more than 50%

If you loose your clip while out hunting, it won't be too reliable, at least not for fast follow up shots.

Easy solution, bring multiple mags! If you forget/lose your plunger or it breaks, your quick follow up shots will disapear with the tube guns too. There is another thread about the most reliable .22 where trappers recall bending the tube and that's why they don't use tube mags.

Yeah, but you can't forget your tube ay home!

If you can forget your box mag(s), you can forget your plunger, and even your ammo.

If a box mag malfunctions you can bring out another. How many shooters carry a spare plunger? Or lifter and tools to replace it? My CZ and BRNO mags can reliably feed shorts, longs, and LR ammo. Plus with multiple mags it's quicker to reload or change ammo type.
