22 rimfire shortages?

I'm in the GTA and 22 CCI Stingers are disappearing off the shelves. Several Canadian Tire stores in and around my area as well as Gagnons and Sail have none in stock.

I have been stocking up on .22 & shotgun shells for hunting & plinking. If the stock in
the US disappears we in Canada may wait a long time to get more in once ours is gone too....:runaway:

Who knows for sure what might happen with supplies, but why miss an opportunity if you can get it now. Get it while you can, I say! :)

CCI - Not much of it to be found anywhere in atlantic Canada unless you are after the .22 shorts. I don't know of anyone who has the CCI Mini-Mags and only sparse findings of the stingers in quantities of 50. There is a little bit of the Winchester X around in .22LR.
Don't know about the Remington 555 boxes from WallyWorld - I won't buy from them since they have a policy of keeping records of ammo purchases for any delinquent working there to make a shopping list for his friends.

If you see Winchester 555 at Walmart for $22, don't ask questions - buy them all. I've been doing that for the past year or so.

Seems its been spotty for 6 months or more. I had a backorder with whoresale sports for 5 months on a case of mini mags, and they sent me a cancelation email last week saying they no longer do back orders. Since they never bring in stock, that isn't really an issue. Wally World had 6 boxes of Federal 525 there tonight. Didn't have enough cash on me for all of them unfortunately. I just went there hoping to see ONE. Canadian Tire has been a ghost town for 22LR, but thats nothing new either. They only bring in a handful of CCI Mini Mags or Fed525 (my go-to's) at a time. I asked them how often they restock, and it seems like once a month if you are lucky. Strange way to do business, but then nobody asked me.
Stock up all winter, shoot all summer regardless of supply issues. Part of being self sufficient, right?

I have a few to tide me over...

I have been stocking up all year on stingers and yellow jackets. I will have to go by a couple thousand more stingers tomorrow. Has anyone tried the CCI segmented or velocitor rounds and what do you think of them? My local store sells a brick of yellow jackets for $40.00 and the Stingers, segmented and velocitors for $50.00 a brick.

Has anyone tried the CCI segmented or velocitor rounds and what do you think of them?

I prefer velocitors over stingers. They are essentially the same round except the velocitor is 40 grain as opposed to the 36 grain stinger. The added weight brings the velocity down a bit but the heavier bullet is better for varmint extermination.

I am down to around 20,000 rounds, I am not concerned at this point.

50,000 plus. That is counting full crates and what I can recall owning from memory. Probably closer to 70,000 if I went down to the magazine and did inventory. Going to add more mini mag and hopefully some velocitor. Yes, I am a firm believer in the adage "Buy it cheap, stack it deep"

Do I win? ;)

it IS crazy in the US folks, truly. you can only find oddball calibers of ammo now, all, and I mean all the common calibers are getting cleaned up fast. Demand across the country far exceeds supply if a store has lots its because the buyers don't know its there. Nuts, absolutely nuts, and I don't believe it will settle down for a long time. I personally know 17 people who have never bought anything before now buying all they can both ammo and the means to deliver it. I am just one dude.

There is still .22 RF ammo in the supply stream in Canada but many dealers are anticipating resupply problems when current stocks are gone.

I bought another 3000 rnds last week.
