I recently got a Marlin 795 SS .22 and took it out shooting today to test it out. All is working really well except that the rings don't hold onto the 3/8 groove that well and after 20 or so shots is moves down quite quickly and starts to slide right off the groove. I don't know what brand the rings are, I got them at the gun shop and they had no name on them, I just asked for rings and was handed these. Is there a brand that works really well for a .22 on a 3/8 groove that no one has had problems with? I have these so tight there about to break so that's not the issue. Any info would be great, thanks.

If you want affordable go with a set of B-square rings. Millet will work as well but more money. If you want solid get a set of scope bases put on and no more worries.

I recently had that problem with my older Marlin 782 in 22 Magnum. When I tried tightening the mounts the claws slipped right out of the grooves, which appear quite shallow. I tried different mounts with sharper claws and they worked better.

Millets

X2 I've got millets on my Marlin 17 HMR. They grip the grooves very solidly and have not moved.

Thanks for the information. I've looked online for millet rings but it doesn't appear they make any for a .22 with a 3/8 groove. Anyone found differently?

these are :)

I have 2 pairs of BKL 257 rings (they are made for 3/8 dovetail I believe) and they work great. They do not fit on my Marlins (2000L and 917VSF). Maybe because the dovetail on them is slightly larger  (11mm)
