.22 Ross Cadet rifle

Great rifles. I've seen them up to as much as $700.00 but I paid $350.00 from Zefarm a year or so ago. You used to be able to get them for $14.00, but that was nearly 100 years ago. My barrel is shiny.

They were designed as military trainers prior to World War I. Many have regimental markings and most are stamped DP with C Broad Arrow markings. As you can see below, they were also available commercially.

I've scanned all the pages concerning the Cadet from the 1912 Ross Rifle Catalogue. If the images are too small, visit my b-pase account:

Ross 22

If the Ross has Canadian or Group information clearly marked on the stock and the barrel is good, then start raising the bar. Some are guns sold to the regular population and some were sent to military groups for training purposes.
There are some pictures of various Ross .22's in The Ross Rifle Story on pages 162 to 164. One even has a WW1 sniper scope on it for sniper trining.
I have had a few over the years and I liked the little guns but sold them off with the rest of my training rifle collection. Now I am looking around for them again. I have observed many of the Ross 22's with cracked stocks mainly around the wrist area.
I would trade some good guns for a few good trining rifles if the opportunity arose.
I like training rifles, and have a few that aren't listed in any of my books. I have an interesting No 4 .22 conversion for the Belgium or Dutch government with an altered bolt head and mag follower. I am looking for information on this one.
