Hi, I am looking for a scope for my sons new 22lr, (Savage mark II). I have to admit I'm a little lost in parallax adjustment, objective lens's, relief, etc.
I have a very basic understanding but limited. he and I are both new shooters. Can someone recommend a good starter scope. Just something tried and true, dependable and suited to a $200 rim fire.

Thanks.

Bushnell Banner 3.5-10x36 with adjustable objective will run around $110. I've used one on my 10/22 for years and can't say anything bad about it for the price. The adjustable objective allows you to get a much better focus with crosshairs on your target, and lets you shoot at closer range with no parralax issues. A fixed power rimfire scope like Simmons 22mag for example will have paralax set for 50 yards. Shooting under 50 yards will cause some paralax to come into play, over 50 will be fine. Center fire scopes are set for 100 yards usually so you don't want one of those on your .22.
Simmons fixed 4x32 is around $40, 3-9x32 around $50...that would be about as cheap as I would go.
