22 scope on shotgun

I have a Hatsan shotgun that has a receiver that accepts scope mounts exactly the same as a 22 rifle.

How would a .22 rifle scope do on this gun firing slugs?

Are they capable of accepting the recoil?

If your scope is a very good quality and has significant eye relief it might be O.K. Most rimf scopes are not all that well made and would fall apart with the significant recoil of a slug load. Also watch the distance the eye is from the scope!

I sort of figured the recoil might do a number on a 22 scope. I wasn't too worried because I have one to play with that I don't really care whether it gets wrecked.

Thanks about the eye relief tip. I hadn't realized that with the 22 scope, it is so much shorter.
