22 short in 22lr

Yes but if your gun doesn't say 22 short, long and long rifle on the barrel you will have either feeding and or ejection issues.

Ive used shorts in a .22 single shot before, they worked well. But in a mag fed rifle you may have feeding problems.

I think I will try some sub-sonic ammo, same fps as short, my 22 is mag fed but would only be loading one at a time

In a .22 pump gun they work very well. I have an FN Browning Trombone that really likes them. Takes 16 shorts, and fires them without a problem. Also a take-down, so handy for packing. Rifle is marked ".22 long" and does not like LR. The high velocity short hollow points have much the same trajectory and work well.

Yeah, safe enough.

How much accuracy do you think you need? Really.

Honestly, spend ten bucks on ammo and try the stuff out.

If looking for an excuse to buy a different gun, quit making excuses, and just buy it! :)

Until short am became more expensive than LR, it was the fallback buy when we couldn't scrounge up the extra for LR.

Oddly enough, it was a short in a Cooey, was the only case split I had that I couldn't account for by being shot out of a clapped out Stevens Favorite. That separation was loud!

stupid question time, can 22 short ammo be fired in 22lr safely and accurately?

Wouldn't CCI Quiet work?

if it's mag fed.. maybe look at 22 longs.
I shoot 22 long CBs out of my 597. doesn't cycle the action but feeds from the mag.. becomes a straight pull nolt action and for some reason the longs seem quieter than the CB shorts.

22lr is a bit to strong, on a trap line, just want something to put between a coyotes eyes a not go through making another hole, will try the sub sonic and the quiet ammo first before buying an other rifle

Shorts work fine in my savage mark2 fv. Still shoot better than most bulk ammo too. Cci short hp works great for head shots on coons in barns. Never exits. The quiets work well to but not as instant as the short hp. I havent tried the segmenting quiets yet though

I shoot CB in my savage mark ll no problem so far and I shot at least 200 with no issues. A little less accurate than shooting lr but it stays within an inch at 60 feet

I use cci quiet 40 gr for my coyote in the trap works very well , does not tear up the hide .. also very usefull for the rural folks , magpies , tree Rats etc.
