I have just purchased an old Husqvarna rolling block model #19 chambered in .22 short from Tradeex.Last time I shot 22 shorts was in Saskatchewan about 45 years ago shooting gophers on a farm, and all I remember is they didn;t crack as loud as a 22 long but they seemed accurate enough, even in an iron sighted single shot cooey. Is there any prefered brand and what is the velocity range of 22 shorts between brands?[I shoot CB longs out of my regular 22-and they dispatch coons quite handily out of cedar trees if I shoot them between the eyes-is there much diference?]

this is going to be a ''fun gun'',I'll probably use my 22 BRNO for hunting-but it would be nice to know the capabilites/limitations of a 22 short just the same

My rule of thumb was to treat it like a pellet gun. Seemed to work out. Every shot was a through and through even with HPs which didn't seem to expand.

With enough time and ammo sure. With proper maintenance though you could shoot 10s of K a year and still pass it on to your grandkids. Do you think it is shot out?

I got my Husqvarna rolling block chambered in .22 short[only]-picked up a couple of boxes of Winchester ''High Velocity'' 22 short and tried it out-at close range[30']it went right through a 2''telephone book and exited. The phone book showed a considerable channel. This was more powerful than I had expected, and I can see it easily taking small game at close range. Are there diferent velocities available in 22 shot-something like a CB long? This one had quite a crack-I thought it would be quieter, maybe suitable for indoor shooting
