Anyone know who makes the lowest noise .22 short round? I am looking for stealth.

I use the CCI CB shorts. They are as quiet as an air rifle. They launch a 29gr bullet at about 710fps. If you prefer, you can also try the CCI CB Longs which are loaded to the same velosity.

You can get 'sub sonic' 22 LR's which are also extremely quiet. A 10/22 which is able to cycle these makes more noise from the action operating than the shot

CCI CB shorts and longs are very quiet out of my Marlin 81. You don't have to wear hearing protection with them. However, firing them out of my 6" model 17 revolver is another thing - keep the hearing protection on!

Try Canadian tire , They have CCI .22 short CB caps in the local store here. I have never seen the CCI .22 long CB caps in a Canadian tire because I have looked . I like the longs because they cycle through the magazine of my 10-22 and I fire it like a bolt action.

A few unwelcome critters have been on the receiving end of .22 CB longs at my place. Very discreet, much quieter than the sub-sonic. Unlike the shorts, the longs fed smoothly in my bolt action. Both fed perfectly in my brother-in-law's Browning lever action. The POI with the CB longs was markedly different than standard velocity rounds so for anything other than contact distance you might want to re-sight your rifle.

CCI CB Longs are indeed quiet, but not "silencer" quiet - They sound like a cap gun; this is coming out of a 10/22.

I once setup a phone book 10m away and was surprised by how deep the bullet penetrated. If I recall it was around 1.5"~2" deep.

You are off on both counts, but it's because of your gun.

The CB's arent great in a semi, because even though they wont cycle the action, they do open it enough for some gas to escape.....this is the "bang" you are hearing. Also, because it's a low velocity round, the energy wasted opening that action just a bit lowers your velocity. CB's out of my 22" barreled pump will go right through a phone book.

Next time you are shooting them out of your 10/22, hold the action closed with your thumb...it will be much quieter.

Love those cb caps. I have an old tube fed mossberg bolt gun and that's all it gets fed. Too bad they are not a tad cheaper though. I think I pay about $7 at CDN tire for them.

Thanks guy's. The CB's worked great. That crow won't be getting me up at 4 am anymore. They were very quiet in my 94/22. I just hope that crow doesn't block my neighboors roof drain for too long.

Good to know~ Thanks; I'm going to give that a try next time for sure :)
